I OWN A APC BX950MI UPS. I HAVE QUESTIONS REGARDING THE SELF TEST.
BASIC QUESTION IS: HOW CAN I KNOW WHAT THE RESULT OF THE SELF TEST IS.

If you have PCPE / PCSS software installed it will tell you when the self test was initiated and the results of pass / fail. The self test runs every 14 days based on first power up.
You can manually initiate a self test on the unit or via PCPE / PCSS software. A battery fault will be called out via the LED / beeper on the unit and also through PCPE / PCSS Software.
All other active faults / errors will be displayed on the unit and PCPE / PCSS software such as internal fault, over load, high temperature, building wiring fault, etc. I’ve appended the full user manual for your reference here:

Thank you for your appreciated reply. I carefully read the manual.
I'm using the UPS to protect my network and the network primary devices. This includes a Synology server. It is permanently connected to the UPS, using the USB port, which thus is not available for a PC.
I do not use the PCPE/PCSS software. The unit does not have a display. Unit status is communicated through the LED and through audible tones.
Am I right in assuming that the result of the self test will be communicated through the LED and sound tones, the table in the manual providing details about the combination of LED/sound for each error condition?
I could also disconnect temporarily the Synology Server and read out the PCPE/PCSS software.
Which brings me to a new question: I'm a Apple (MAC) user. Is there a software available for MAC? What is the download link (could not find it).
Thanks for your help!

There is no dedicated APC Power Chute software for a Mac. You’ll need to use the native power management software on the Mac.
As it relates to the LED / Beeper this is the only physical method to see and hear specific faults / errors. The other is obviously to use PCPE / PCSS Software to identify active faults, errors, and self test status.
