I have an APC Back-UPS 650, it will sporadically cut power to the devices connected to it, even when plugged into steady line voltage. When this occurs the UPS will beep once and cut power to devices plugged into the battery backup outlets while the UPS is still plugged into nominal line voltage, after this a relay will close and the unit will restore power to the battery backup plugs and the green power light will go out on the main power switch. At this point pressing the alarm disable button will cause the green power light to come back on. Does anyone have any ideas or solutions? Could it be that the battery is bad?
-If the UPS is unplugged from power it will beep continously and supply no backup power
-The intermittent shut off's seem to be becoming more frequent
-The Wiring Fault light is off
-The only things plugged into the UPS are a monitor and a computer

I replied to your other thread by the way..APC UPSs utilize special APC cables and PowerChute Personal Edition does not work with serial type UPSs, only newer generation USB Back UPS.

I have the same issue but additionally, the UPS will not communicate with the PowerChute v3.02 software. I get a 'no connection' error message. I am using the same serial cable for another UPS and it works fine.
