I have 3 New Back-UPS XS 1500Gs, less then 3 months old. All 3 of them keep failing their Self Test with cause noted as a bad battery (sometimes the test passes, sometimes it does not, loads are very low, about 100w). I have delt with tech support, and they just keep sending me new units (and I appreciate the great service), but they are ALL failing the same way and I just want them to work. Can someone help me.

Thank you. Sensitivity already at medium. I will call back and try for another RMA this week.

There were a huge amount of defective 1000-1500Gs the charging circuits were defective, the problem has been fixed and try turning the sensitivity to medium. the next rma should be fine, otherwise if the problem continues with the would get a Smart ups, there server grade and way more reliable

Ron,
Are you seeing a flashing or a solid battery with an X mark on it that comes up? What troubleshooting steps have you done with our technical support?

Yes, when the unit fails a self test, the battery icon with an x comes on. If it passes self test it goes a way. It seems to be random as to whether or not it passes or fails (manual or scheudled). But if it fails the scheduled self test (opposed to the manual one), the powerchute software shuts down my server.
I have gone through ALL the trouble shooting steps with tech support, three seperate times (and I do mean that, load, no load, differnet loads, power strip, no power strip, manual self test, remove and reseat battery, etc.). Each time the result is "you have a bad battery, we will send you a new one", then I get a note, "we have no battery's in stock, so we will send a new unit" (which I appreciate greatly, thank you), which I get, install, and have exactly the same problem. I am on my thrid unit (and third seperate battery).
I have noted in all cases, it never fail a self test if the unit is under no load. It only fails if under load (and again, randomly). As noted, my load is pretty low, just about 100w.
By the way, we lost power the other day, and the unit worked just fine.

I have tried a number of loads. May basic load is two small servers, total standing loads about 40w each (they do very litle work, mostly just sit) and small 8 port switch, and two small NAS devices, rounding out the normal load to about 100w.
I have tested loads of a single computer, so the minimum I have tried, is about 40w. I have also tested a room fan, which has a standing load of about 100w and a startup load of about 150w.
The unit reponds to loads just fine, including computer startup loads.
The issue is all with self tests. The unit runs a self test on its own (every week two I think) This has failed at least twice with my current unit, then my servers shut down due to the powershute software and the alarm scares my wife. I have run self tests from the unit front panel, these fail randomly. It will fail, then I can wait 5 min and it will pass, pass again, then fail, random. I have also run self test from the powershute software, and I get the same response as when run from the front panel. The unit passes self tests all of he time if there is no load at all.
Please let me reiterate, this has happened with three separate units, in exactly the same way (and I mean exactly).
