I turn off my XS900 at the end of the day. About a month ago the UPS became more difficult to where it would not turn off. I had to pull the power plug. Now it is getting difficult to turn on. Where the UPS would not turn on this morning. None of the equipment would turn on either. I unplugged and held the wsitch in till i heard a beep, no lights came on and it sounded like a fan came on. The equipment connected would not turn on either. I removed the batteries and they are both fully charged. So what do you think. Is there a diagnostic I can run ?

Hello,
APC UPS systems are not designed to be used as a Master On/Off switch for connected equipment. It is possible that the UPS is no longer functional because of its consistent power off/power on requirements. You may be able to have one issued as a replacement through APC technical support, however, they will be asking if you are using it as a master on/off, and this may be the only that will be replaced if it continues to be used in this manner. When you stated that you measured the batteries and they are fully charged, what was the reading that you took from the connector?

Hello,
Your UPS, whether attached equipment is powered on or not, should always remain on. Each time you turn the UPS off, the batteries will begin to discharge as they are still connected ot the UPS. Therefore, turning off the UPS every time you are done with your equipment is going to significantly decrease the battery life, and may be the root cause of this problem.
