Hi,
My 2nd BR1500GI UPS in 4 months has failed with F02 fault code after being powered off and on again. I've been unable to clear this error even after disconnecting the battery and 'brain dead' the unit by discharging the caps (hold power button on for 30 secs with no battery or power connected). This unit was an RMA replacement for my first BR1500GI which failed with F02 and F06 errors within 10 days of purchase.
The BR1500GI has been powered on continuously 24x7 since I received it late Nov 2011, with the exception of a 2 day period over xmas when it was switched off (but started up again ok). The fault occurred this time after briefly powering off the unit to move my computer equipment at home. I performed a mains power 'pull test' a few weeks ago to check the UPS was actually working with my normal load and everything was fine. That load is typically around 50-55% of the unit's stated capacity, supplying a high-end PC used for flight simulation and graphics / video production at home.
I'm feeling a bit unlucky here but I have seen other posts on this forum reporting the same error. It could be I'm the unfortunate victim of a statistical cluster of failures or maybe there are some problems with this UPS. Needless to say my confidence in the UPS has pretty much vanished and I'm left with a £300 brick. I can't fault APC's RMA process which was efficient and courteous the first time round but I don't really want to go through the inconvenience of arranging delivery and collection of a replacement all over again plus these things are heavy and not great for my back!
If anyone has suggestions for anything else I might try or insight to what might be going on before I call APC I'd be grateful.
Thanks,
Rob W
