Hey guys,
Looking for some advice here -
I've got 2 x IBM UPS 3000s (IBM 3000XLV 3000VA Rackmount 2U Online UPS) in operation in our server room.
Today when I went into the server room I noticed they were were both making blip sounds and neither have any display or respond to the buttons on the front.
They are both however still supplying power to all connected devices. I imagine if the power went out they'd be useless though.
Both were totally fine yesterday and chugging away as usual with < 50% load each.
Couldn't really find anything that described exactly what I was seeing after searching around for a while so a video will be best to show it:

The top one is doing the same thing, just not as frequently.
I've tried removing the load on one, unplugging the power and disconnecting the battery and leaving it off for a while.
It just resumes blipping away when I plug it back in and there doesn't seem to be any life with the interface, NIC, etc.
I have also tried another power outlet with the same results but it's on the same circuit and I don't have any others to test with in the office.
Have these both just suddenly fried at exactly the same time, perhaps due to some kind of power event?
Is there anything else I can try to attempt to revive these units?
Cheers,
Mark.

Yeah these weren't being monitored at all and there were no plans to (not my call) so no logs of any kind.
Warranty was out in 2009 so I guess they'll have to replaced.
Appreciate the tips and assistance!
Cheers,
Mark.

Mark,
Are there network cards in the UPS? If so the event log or data should show what happened. If you don't have network cards but you have PowerChute Business Edition or APCUPSD configured with the units the event log in the software should show what happened.
The flashing is an indication of an internal fault. You can run a reset of the units (see kbase FA156611). If that does not resolve the issue the units should be replaced.

Yes they both have built in NICs, there's no activity on the switch port or the port on the UPS though.
I presume that means that's not going to be of any help.
I tried the instructions as mentioned here:
http://www.schneider-electric.us/sites/us/en/support/faq/faq_main.page?page=content&country=US〈=en&l...
Nothing... neither of the buttons on the front are responsive and they do absolutely nothing whether the power is unplugged or plugged in at the wall.
With or without the battery attached made no difference either. I guess that means they are toast...
What could have caused this to happen? Both at the same time is pretty coincidental so I'm doubting it just happened randomly out of the blue, and was more likely to have been caused by some specific event.
Cheers,
Mark.

Hi,
Without having the logs I am only speculating but a surge or spike may be the culprit.
