hi guys!
i have newly installed Smart ups RT 6000 XL with one of my server through serial port. i want to execute a command file. from knowledge base i have found some articles and did following
- used 8.3 naming convention
- changed log on for the ups service
- changed the local security policy for ups service
- also tried using service by "interact with desktop"
but when i click on the test button there is no result as the command file works well manually.
i have simplifed the command file to :
@START c:\windows
otepad.exe
its working fine and opening notepad when i run the default.cmd manually but no result when working through PCBE. its basic version installed and i am accessing the server through remote desktop.
Your suggestions and support will be appreciated.
Best Regards
Abdul Qadir

Hi Abdul,
Check your process list after you run that script on 2003. I bet that notepad.exe is running, even though it didn't appear on your screen.

hi abdul,
is this a file a .cmd or a .bat file? try naming it the opposite of whichever that it is.
[here is some reference but it sounds like you already went through all of this..|http://nam-en.apc.com/cgi-bin/nam_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=7712] besides stopping the agent service and restarting?

hi,
well it was not working on windows 2003 server, so i connected the serial cable with a pc having windows xp installed and configured the PCBE and it executed the script. It is done !!!!! but what can be the reason for not working in 2003 server what i am thinking can be possibly 2 reasons......
- i was using remote desktop connection as server was not directly connected with any kvm or monitor/keyboard/mouse that was not allowing to execute the scripts through PCBE.
- otherwise it was some security settings that were not allowing executing of scripts...
anyways my problem is solved... thanks for your help and support.
best regards
Abdul Qadir
