"UPS: RFC1628 MIB UPS is on battery" message every 2 minutes

Hello,

starting yesterday my UPS APC 3000VA is sending me this message every 2 minutes:

"Code : 0x3601

Informational - UPS: RFC1628 MIB UPS is on battery."

I have logged into the web interface and could not find any problems there; no error or alarms in UPS status or logs.

Also, I have physically checked the UPS and it works well, providing power and passing the self test, all LEDS green.

I have tried rebooting it, turning it on and off, runnning self tests, clearing the logs, but with no result.

I keep getting that e-mail message every 2 minutes.

Any suggestions?

Thank you,

Mihail

Hi Mihail,

Yes, I am just suggesting you disable the "RFC1628 MIB" alarm group/category messages specifically. All other messages would still come through and shouldn't be modified and will cover what you're looking for as far as UPS status, alarms, etc.

You'll probably want to disable this event from being emailed/logged if you aren't using SNMP and don't have any idea what the UPS RFC1628 Generic SNMP MIB is.

Here is some information on it -> http://www.apc.com/support/index?page=content&country=ITB〈=en&locale=en_US&id=FA156148

This is just getting sent to you when your UPS goes on battery in addition to the normal "on battery" notification. You can disable this alarm under the Configuration -> Notification ->Email->Event actions/by group menu in v6.X.X firmware or under Administration->Notification sub tab->Event Actions by group and disable the RFC1628 events for email (and event log if you want).

Hope that helps. This is just more of a nuisance alarm for you so you don't have to worry that your UPS has a problem. Just need to disable it and stop the nuisance.

Thank you for answering !

If I follow your suggestion, will I still receive by e-mail a notification when the UPS really works on battery (in the event of a power failure)?

I need these types on notifications so I can track how often power failures occur and how soon the diesel generator kick in.

Thank you!

Mihail
