Hi,
I have a server with 5 clients. I have a smart UPS 1500 and AP9207 interface expander. The AP9207 is connected to the UPS via a serial cable. The server is connected to the advanced port of the expander. 2 client computers are connected to the basic ports of the expander.
When i try to add the clients to the devices list from the powerchute console window it initiates shutdown of the clients. It does not do it with the server and i can add the server to the list without any problem.
Can someone help me understand what is going on and how to prevent it?
Thanks
Tac

Hi,
How are the dip switches configured on the AP9207? What is the part number of the serial cables? What is the OS and what version of PowerChute is installed?

Hi Bill,
Dip switches all set to 0.
2 cables have part no 940-0024C the other 940-0024D
On the server I am using Powerchute Business 2003 9.1.1 with agent, server and console installed.
On the clients I am using the Powerchute Business Windows 7 version with just agent installed.
The OS on the server is SBS 2003 and the clients Windows 7.
As soon as I add the clients to the devices list in the console i get the warning that battery time threshold has been exceeded and a warning that power has failed and that its running on battery.
This is not the case as the UPS is running as normal with no indicators showing a power failure.

Hi,
The cables that are needed are part number 940-0020 for the systems connected to the basic ports and 940-0024 for the system connected to the advanced port.
Here is a link to the cable web page
http://www.apc.com/shop/us/en/products/UPS-Communications-Cable-Simple-Signalling/P-940-0020
You need to use the 940-0020 cable with the basic ports and that will resolve the issue.
You should review the User's Guide http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/ASTE-6Z5QCB/ASTE-6Z5QCB_R0_EN.pdf?sdirect=true for assistance configuring shutdown of the system attached to the basic ports.
