management card not updating config properly

I have an odd one.

I have a 9619 card (firmware 3.5.5)in a SU2200RM unit. Originally I accidentally setup notifications via email that were overly sensitive. SO I got emailed anytime the slightest action happens, and repeatedly. At one point I was getting emails faster than I could pop them.

I have tried transferring a clean config.ini to the unit, and resetting the interface to defaults but some settings would remain after reboot.

After transferring a factory config from another card and rebooting, the UPS indicates that no emails will be sent when I veiw the actions by the GUI. right? wrong. As soon as I add my email recipient back in (the same as before) it reverts the notification settings back to what they were before the reset even though I havent gone back in and told it what to do yet!

I finally got it to stop emailing by going in and reconfiguring ALL events to disable emailing for all accounts.

I changed it event by event and got it working... mostly.

My environmental alerts are still going nuts. I have configured it to alert on temperature issues, with one repeat after 30 seconds with no other repeats, and even reconfiguring it to page ONCE with no repeats.

However it ALWAYS alerts me every 2 minutes and will not stop until the problem clears. what the heck is going on here? I have tried resetting it repeatedly through the gui and it ignores my settings (except for email/dont email). No matter what I do when I set it to alert me, it always sets itself for an alert followed by a 2 minute repeat until cleared (even when set to other intervals or repeat counts/dont repeat). The only thing it does right is to stop emailing when I disable the notifications.

I dont think its a temp flux issue causing repeated alerts. I have it set for a 5 degree hysteresis, and the temperature does not flux at all. (yes its running hot and should alert right now, that part isnt an error).

Any ideas? I also took that same config and copied it to a 9619 in an ap750 and it works just fine. it alerts me once and shuts up, so it appears to be this unit. Bad card? Do I need to remove the card and pull the onboard backup battery and let it sit for a while? Replace it as its defective? (I am about to that point as my time is worth more than the replacement cost if this constant tinkering doesnt stop).

any ideas?

Also, is there any super secret squirrel documentation for editing the ini file directly? Specifically the cryptic alert commands? I know you cant edit it literally directly off the unit, but I was referring to editing it locally and transferring it. Not necessarily to edit it directly... even being able to look at the lines in the config and interpret what they mean might help sometimes.

One other thing. if I want to do a mass change to alot of units, I should be able to copy a partial config and upload only that bit via the ini utility and it will ignore the parts I dont upload and leave them alone, correct? For example If I wanted to only adjust one thing, like the DNS settings, I could trim the ini file down to just the [NetworkDNS] section and it would change that section and ignore the rest on the unit?

TIA

Thanks, that helps.

any idea why I can't get my alerts to only email me once? I can get it to alert me until it clears for ANY interval successfully. However I cant get it to email me x number of times and stop.

For example. I have a UPS with a bad battery. A new one is on the way, but in the meantime, I am being hounded to death by the UPS. According to the GUI the alert is set to email me immediately, repeat every 2 mins and stop at 1 reminder.

No matter what I do it ignores the last part... it always goes until the error clears (I assume). I can set it to alert me once, twice, 5x and it just keeps going and going... if I set it to alert me at another interval it works. I can get it to alert me every 10 mins and it will do so, but it wont stop as configured. I have received over 25 emails so far.

Ideas? I have already tried disabling alerts and re-enabling them as well as changing it around to various intervals. I finally set it to repeat every 12 hours to "stop" it.
