Hi, i have received a SUA2200RMI2U for free. It has not been connected to a mains outlet (utility power) for 2-3 years, and all the battery is 0V.
My question.
Is there a way to get is to power up without battery connected, so i can get an indication that it should be working when new battery's is added. There is no feedback (LED or sound) from the UPS when connected to 230 V AC
Not to happy with buying battery's for 200-300 €, if it is broken
Best
Ivan

Thanks Mike - this was important in that I'm supporting a user that plugged in a SUA3000 (RM slim unit) without any batteries and expected it to operate. I told him that he must have a good battery pack of 8 - 5.5AH batteries wired properly and connected for the unit to operate correctly.

Ivan,
The SUA product line is designed to turn on without good batteries in the unit. If you are getting no signs of life when the unit is properly plugged into mains, the unit may be bad and it is probably not worth investing in new batteries for this unit.
I would suggest completely removing the batteries from the unit, unplugging the unit from mains, holding the off button for about 20 seconds, plugging the unit back into mains, and try booting the unit up while looking for any sign of life.
Regards,

Jordan;
I was not aware that SUA3000RM(XLs) units would show any signs of life with the battery pack disconnected - when connecting to AC power. I recall that has been my experience (although I must admit it could be a SURT or other style unit - or that a relay might have "clicked", but that was about it). Once a battery pack is connected that has some level of energy, the units have always tried to light up - usually go all the way to the battery check and then fail on bad batteries - if deficient batteries. In all cases (dozens), good batteries resolved all the issues. There have been times when one bad battery in the series "pack" was the culprit - and can happen with "new" batteries.
Can this be clarified?

Hi Mark,
Jordan was mistaken. Please see our knowledge base below under the resolution section, number 1.
http://www.schneider-electric.us/sites/us/en/support/faq/faq_main.page?page=content&country=US〈=en&id=FA156604
The SMX/SMT series will turn on without the battery. All other line interactive smart-ups will not.
For the double online smarts only our new SRT and the SURT15/20KVA will turn on without a battery.
Sorry for the original misinformation.
-Mike
