That depends upon the specific APC UPS you have which you haven’t indicated?!?

Regardless, you may use APC Power Chute Software to update the battery installation date (IF) available as referenced here:

You may use the option I provided via Power Chute Software or these two alternate methods if available or present.

NMC: Configuration -> UPS -> Enter new battery installation date of month / year

LCD: Disconnect the battery cable and wait for the system to declare a battery fault. Wait another ten seconds and than reconnect the battery cable. The system will prompt you to confirm if the battery has been changed. Toggle from No to Yes and enter the month and year.

Next, manually initiate a Self Test and let pass and allow the battery to recover to 100% SOC. Complete the process by manually initiating a *Battery Calibration* with at least 30% attached load to the output. Let this procedure complete and allow the battery recover back to 100% SOC.

Done . . .

NOTE: Mark the actual battery purchase and installation date on the battery cartridge. ☝️

The UPS can remain on when you disconnect the battery cable.
