Symmetra LX SYPM4KP module repair / error 0040

Wondering if anyone has any insight on repairing the 0040 error on a SYPM4KP. I have 4 modules with this error that follow the main controller. i know that it is DC bus related but im not able to find any components that are defective yet. i can pull the DC fuses and it does not make a difference, but the error follows the controller.

Other known errors for those in need:

Error 8100: replace C6 and C11, 50v 35uf cap. bad will test OL.

Error 8000 repalce R266. known good measure 32.16K, bad OL. (on back side)

Hello,

The fault appeared in this power module is output fuse fault ,we usually advise to replace the entire power module as this Power module is not field repairable and any other updates available in this forum regarding internal repair procedures inside the power module is not verified ,and it is not an authenticate information to rely on ,any hardware issue appeared in the power module, it is recommended to replace the entire power module beside we do not provide spare parts regarding the internal PCBAs inside this power module

But I can give you a tip,you can open the power module, inside it the power main board 0P7447A,verify F3 and F4  (output fuse ) that is located inside  the output filter and current sense section PH1 and PH 2   beside  the inverter main section ,check the VOUT on these fuse ,if it is zero then F3 or F4  are  opened and needs to be replaced but I do not guarantee that this  is will repair the power module and regain back to normal operaion

Please note that we do not recommend to repair these power modules onsite  and any consequences that might raise due to this repair is solely under your responsibility without any penalties or blame  on Schneider Electric ,we had of course internal documents that explain the repair procedures but is only for internal use by  our R&D team and it is not intended to be used by our internal SRs or authorized service partners for repair inside the power module

We had ultraplan services that will guarantee the spare parts replacement  for break fix incase of failure that can be purchased to guarantee the proper repair of the unit

Regards,

Karim

Thank you for the reply. The DC fuses are good. The issue is in removable logic controller. I can take one from a good unit and put it in one of the 0040 modules and it will work fine and vise versa.

One other note is if I raise the DC bus to 152v (12v higher than normal) the 0040 error clears and the module works. I have a bad intelligence module that boils the batteries but for this case it’s helpful in diagnosing

Hello,

There is an issue appeared regarding MIM/RIM firmware 560 related to battery increase/decrease events and there is a new  firmware 562 is developed to resolve this issue so we recommends to replace both MIM/RIM modules to the latest version available that enhance the battery monitoring performance

With IM FW v562, only the informational alarms will be suppressed from customer view, while actual failures/issues will continue to be displayed as usual. We believe that suppressing the informational alarm will not impact product performance or customer satisfaction. In order for the customer to view if the unit recognized the battery has been increased or decreased, please go into the battery section of either the NMC or the display and check the quantity reported.

Regards,

Karim

Hello, I’m referring to the daughter board inside the power module not the IM. It seems to have an issue energizing one of the relays on the inverter board. On a daughterboard that works you can hear two relays energize right away and then another about a second later. With a 0040 board the 3rd relay that would come a second later is only a very soft click. I can remove the larger capacitors on the left side by the transformer and it doesn’t change the error. I have 4 of these modules with this issue so there is plenty of determination.
