The APC USB driver is not an option when trying to switch from HID UPS Battery to APC UPS. How do I get this driver?

Hi,
The drivers are included with the Windows install. The drivers should load automatically once the APC UPS has been connected to the computer using the proper USB cable. If the drivers do not load automatically once the USB cable has been connected to the UPS and the computer, open C:\Windows\System32\drivers and verify that hidclass.sys, hidparse.sys, and hidusb.sys are available. Also verify that apcups.inf is available in C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository.
To load the drivers manually once the UPS has been connected see Schneider Electric FAQ FA164514

Beth,
The driver is included in the Windows OS install. When you first connect the UPS to the system it should report found new hardware and the HID driver should appear in the device manager. When you install PowerChute the APC driver becomes available.
Have you installed PowerChute?

Which UPS do you have? PowerChute Business Edition only supports SmartUPS', while PowerChute Personal Edition only supports BackUPS'.

Beth,
Do you have another Windows system you can test the connection with? The UPS should be auto detected and since it is not that indicates either a communications issue on the UPS or computer. Testing with another Windows system will tell you if it is the Server 2012 or the UPS.
Also, What is the exact model Smart-UPS. You will find that on the back of the unit on the bar code sticker.

I am not in the same city as the UPS. It is a SmartUPS 3000. The utility to test if the computer can see the UPS shows it can see it.
I don't have another server to test it on.

Hi Beth,
SmartUPS 3000 can refer to many different UPSes... APC has made a lot over the years! Which is why Bill would like the exact model # and serial # on the sticker.
Regarding specifying "USB" on the manual selection screen. That screen can be a bit confusing: it's asking for the shape of the port on the UPS side, not the computer side. The UPS ships with a cable that is USB on the computer end and a different connector on the UPS end. I'm guessing this is /probably/ the RJ45 connector, so try picking that to install.
But like Bill said, it should've automatically detected the UPS. I imagine he might have more to say about this if he knows which UPS you're using. Testing on another server is probably the best option though.

Hi
I have a SUA1500 and can't get it to install USB drivers on Windows 2012R2.
Using the same cable on a Win7 PC it detects and installs the USB drivers. On the 2012 device it only detects if a generic driver is used, but PowerChute doesn't detect it.
Where can I download the drivers?
Thanks.
