Hi,
A couple of days ago I installed PowerChute V9 in Windows XP ProSP3 UPS is SUA1000I. Just have the Agent installed and login through FF.
Now, I was going through all the settings and help menu to try and figure out what was best for me. In fact I spent hours at it. Id made a couple of changes but cant remember what they are as we dad a 2 second power cut and my computer shutdown almost immediately. No time to close any programmes. Then the UPS turned off. Not what I call a graceful shutdown at all. 2 questions......
1/Is there anywhere or anyway I can find or get the default settings back? (please dont tell me to re-install)
2/ I am only using PowerChute on 1 workstation, though I have other things hooked up but not always running, connected to the UPS. I know I easily have at least 15 minutes with a full load on. Id like about 7 minutes before the computer is shut down. WHat settings do I use please?
Help appreciated thanks

do you have the event log from when this happened so we can see the events recorded? how much total runtime does the software report with your load attached (versus the observed runtime of at least 15 minutes).
once we see the total amount of runtime and maybe look at the logs, i'd say we could make a good recommendation on how to configure things. i am not sure how to reset all the powerchute settings to default or if there even is a way to be honest.

Thanks for your response. Heres is a cut and paste from the event log, with a little sample of the data log below ( I was playing around with the settings and only have some of that log, and as you will see the entries are only 10 secs apart.. )
At the moment with just my PC on, the runtime is 50 mins. Ive seen it at 60 with the same PC running. WHen I also have the Mac and some other associated low power- draw hardware turned on, the maximum load shows 3 Leds lit out of 5 on the UPS. The 15 mins is a conservative guess Ive taken from when I sized my ups for my needs when I purchased it. It is more like 20mins. I mostly shut my computers down when not in use or if Im out of the room and most of the time only one is going, thats why the load (in bold) shows a minimal reading here. Taking into account for when I have both computers on I still dont want to let it run on battery unnecessarily so I figure 7 to 10 mins is all I need, tops.
DO I have to have a command file operating to achieve this?

i see you have a lot of monitoring started/stopped. you are monitoring via USB, correct? do you know why the communication is dropping? for instance, your computer going into hibernate and turning off USB?
what exactly would you like to accomplish - shut down the attached computer a few minutes after running on battery for the 7-10 minutes you mentioned?
what is the column you bolded? battery voltage or something else? i was thinking the column to the left of bolded was battery voltage but i am not sure without the column headings.

Hi, thanks for your response.
Yes Im going thru USB. I have always shut my computer/s down when not in use, and if Im understanding correctly thats what youre seeing in the 1st log, or have I got that wrong? Sometimes I can boot up 3 times in a day. If my computer/s are idle and Im around the house and within earshot of the UPS, I'll leave things on for around 2 hours.

Yes Id like PowerChute to gracefully shut down my XP computer AFTER running on battery about 7 mins so I can have more flexibility about going out of earshot. Once Ive achieved that then I need some explanation about how to shut down any programs that might be opened at the time as well, but 1st things 1st.
The bold is not voltage but load. I didnt initially paste in the headings coz they didnt display correctly but here they are in the correct order.
Date
Time
Min Line Voltage(VAC)
Max Line Voltage(VAC)
Input Line Voltage(VAC)
UPS Output Voltage(VAC)
Output Frequency(Hz)
Battery Voltage (VDC)
UPS Load (%)
Internal UPS Temp (°C)
