I'm getting these alerts sent to me from an SMX3000 and I'm not sure what they mean. Any ideas?

hello,
in our latest NMC2 firmware, we implemented support for the generic RFC1628 SNMP MIB (in addition to APC's own PowerNET MIB). what i believe you might have done is changed your event logging or notifications to show these events in the log which i dont believe they are by default. in addition to using it for SNMP, there are some events that can appear in the log for it.
if you are not using the RFC1629 SNMP MIB, let me know, and i can show you how to disable them. you basically just need to go to Administration tab->notification->by group and find the RFC 1629 group there and select it then press next. it will give you an option to choose the configuration for email recipients or logging so you can choose logging and press next. from there you can select to disable the notifications.

Ok, I'll check it out. By the way we had power issues and I went to the APC to check it's log and it was filled up with these type of alerts:
"System: Email: Could not resolve 'domain.name'" which means I have no logs from last night. How can I stop it from logging dns info?

well, this is something we are trying to fix in the future in regards to the spamming when the email is not able to be sent after a few tries. for now, i would ask if you are aware of what the root cause of DNS not working is? it might be better to disable email for a specific receipient so that it does not try to email or you can stop these specific events from logging at all. which do you think is best and i can help point out how to do that.

For some reason the UPS was off which caused a network outage. I wanted to check the logs to see what happened with the UPS but it's filled up with DNS errors because it wasn't supplying power to our switches. Now I have no idea why our switches lost power and why we had to press the power button on the UPS to get everything back up.

ok - well this specific log entry can be disabled but then i think its a double edged sword because you wont know when this happens. if you'd like to disable it, you could go to Administration->Notification->By Event and click on the main category of System events on the right hand side. then find this event or specific events you'd like to disable and click on them then untick the box for Event log.

Thanks , I didn't see the dns event at first but I found it and disabled it. Now the question, is there anyway to figure out why the equipment connected to the UPS lost power? When we went to look at the unit, it was beeping. We pressed power once to turn off then power again to turn on and everything was back to normal.

well since its an SMX3000, the LCD itself on the front of the UPS has an event log in there. the menu mode must be set to advanced though on that i believe. i would see what it says in there. then, also let me know what LEDs were lit (color & solid flashing) if possible. how you had to turn on it is usually the biggest indicator of what could have happened
to change the menu mode to advanced, check the configuration menu and i believe you can toggle it from standard to advanced in there. i believe you'll see the 10 last events and 10 transfer to battery reasons too.

Unfortunately, I wasn't the one who turned the unit off then on to get it working so I don't know what the status of the leds were. The user does think it had a solid beeping noise though. We also have a generator and i know the generator kicked in last night for a few minutes but I'm not sure why the ups switched off.
I did find advanced mode and the logs on the display:
Fault Event 1: Output low voltage
