Hi,
We have 4 APCs that we use to reset our servers (if needed) in a datacenter, each of these APCs have its own Public IP address and they are already 4 years in use and we never had any problem with them, but since a week or so I am not able to access any of these APCs from a web browser, when I type the IP of any of these APCs I get a page cannot display. I can access all of the APC with telnet session and reboot my servers but not from the web browser. I also cannot telnet the post 80 on none of the APCs like the Port 80 is not open.
nothing has been changed in the front of these APCs.
Any idea why is this heppening?
Thnaks

Ok, great, thanks.
So this happened on multiple units you said? Do they all have these same settings in this menu?
Can you check to see if your computers are using a new proxy server or something? If it was one unit, I'd say well we could try to reboot it (which you can still try) or resetting it to defaults but if its on (4) units, it seems like it could be something else. I'd want to know if a proxy is involved in your network now, perhaps firewall rules that block traffic to/from via port 80, and similar
If you want to try and reboot this one, go to the System->Tools->Reboot Management Interface option in the menu. It will only reboot the management interface and not the entire device.

Hi,
We need to know model the Network Management Cards inside your UPSs are to be sure. If you can log in via telnet, you should be able to see this information. If you have options like 1- Device Manager 2-Network 3-System, and 4-Logout, then it is an AP9617/18/19 which is my guess based on the age of the cards/UPS.
Though, if they are older and you're accessing it from Windows, you could see this issue -> Network Management Card 1 (NMC1) Information Bulletin: Effects of Microsoft Windows Critical Update ...
You can try different a web browser as suggested there or from a different computer but since Telnet works, it is likely this issue above if you're using Windows.

Hi!
Yes, OK, so that is a Rack PDU (powerstrip) and has an NMC1 inside of it.
Can you tell me what you see under the following menu path: Main Menu->Network->Web/SSL/TLS. It should look similar to mine below:
------- Web/SSL/TLS -----------------------------------------------------------
1- Access : Enabled
2- SSL/TLS : Disabled
3- HTTP Port : 80
4- HTTPS Port : 443
5- Advanced SSL/TLS Configuration
6- Accept Changes :

Hi Angela,
Thanks for you update,
I did check all of the 4 units and all of them have the same configuration(As above port 80 is open), last time we did put a new TMG server on the same switch as these 4 units, let me explain,
In a data center we got a switch from our internet provider and when we want to connect an machine/server directly to the internet we connect the machine / Devie to this switch and give it an public IP in this reng: 62.XX.XX.16X, we have 40 public IP address, and our APC devices have public IP address in the same reng(62.XX.XX.16X).
we already had an TMG server that is connected to the same switch as our APC devices and everythings works as it should, 4 weeks ago we add a new TMG server to the same switch and I think from this moment on this issue occurring, but I dont understand! because this TMG has nothing to do with these APCs and the only thing is they share the same switch (of our ISP provider). The APC al have thier own public IP address.
I will go ahead and reboot one of the APCs and see what heppens. before doning so I want to know rebooting the APC would effect the devices that are connected to this APC? I mean if I reboot this APC, will the device and servers connected to this APC reboot or not?
Thaks.

Hi again,
As noted in my previous post already:
If you want to try and reboot this one, go to the System->Tools->Reboot Management Interface option in the menu. It will only reboot the management interface and not the entire device.
What is a TMG server? You can also try a direct connection to the Network Interface Card on the APC devices by setting up an IP on the same "network" as these APC devices to see if you can directly connect via a crossover cable (or straight through if your PC supports 1000mbps per second) to see if it works between your computer and the APC device.

Hi Angela,
sorry for the delay,
The TMG is a Microsoft firewall like the ISA 2006.
this firewall is only on the same switch as the APC devices, so it shouldnt be this firewall that block the connection, why can we access the APC with telnet? and not with web browser? if it has something to do with this firewall then accessing the APC with telnet shouldnt be possible.
Thanks

Firewalls are capable of blocking data/traffic on many different levels - by port, service/protocol, TCP/UDP, network subnet or range, MAC address, etc.
Thus, you can very well have a firewall that is blocking the HTTP port or service but it does not block Telnet...
The newer Network Management Cards we manufacture have an embedded firewall and even they are capable of blocking based on those items. Users can effectively block all HTTP and HTTPS requests directly to the devices right from it. (Which your model you shared does not support this so it was just an example).
I think that it would be helpful if you tried rebooting the devices via Telnet and if that did not work, try directly connecting to a PDU to see if you can access it that way so it could help prove or disprove if there is a network issue or a computer issue. And it is not just one PDU you're having a problem on I think you said, so it is multiple devices at the same time..

Hi Angela,
Thanks for your reply,
I want to let u know that the problem has been solved, I did enable the https on one of the APCs and still I couldnot access the APC from web browser, after that I disable the https again and this time I could telnet the port 80 on the APC and I could access the APC from web broswer.
I did the same thing on other problematic APCs and I can access them both with the web broswer. I think disabling the https again has restart the manament interface and that is why we can access the device from the web broswer.
Thank you for your help on this issue.
Shahin
