In the past week I hooked up a Back-UPS ES 550 and installed the Power Chute PE ver 2.0 for Windows XP. It's a nice new install of Windows and the Windows boot-time was really quick and snappy before this setup. Afterwards, the Windows start-up time slowed right down. It would take MUCH longer to start up after the login. So I disconnected the UPS and uninstalled the software and I'm back to having a fast start-up.
Any thoughts on what could be causing this?

Do you have any anti-virus programs running in addition to PCPE? What service pack of Win XP are you running?

Can you post some system specs? Processor type, memory amount, etc.? Do you have an estimation of how much longer the reboot took in terms of minutes or seconds? Also, did you try rebooting again after that initial reboot with PCPE installed?
