Hello All,
I'm trying to figure out which UPS will be optimal (and budget oriented) for shutting down our server & storage array w/in a few minutes of a power outage. I tried using the UPS Selector, and the minimal it recommends is a APC Smart-UPS 1000VA USB & Serial 120V.
We don't need the server/array running very long, just enough to shut down after a few minutes, so does anyone think the Smart-UPS SC 450VA will be suitable for this task?
I'm thinking we don't need the full wattage rating for the server & array to shut down since if it loses power, all the workstations connected to it have already lost power, so no one will be accessing it at that time.
Advice from you guys/gals who are more knowledgeable about UPS backups will be greatly appreciated. THANKS!
Server specs:
Western Scientific: Fusion X5 3U (we have 2 plugs/power supplies)
site desc:
- 3U: 650watt single PS, optional 650w N+1 (3x plugs)
Disk array:
Infortrend EonStore A08U-G1A3
site desc:
- 2 redundant, hot-swappable power supplies with PFC
- Input: 90-260VAC, 47-63Hz
- Output: +5V, 25A max.; +12V, 24A max.; +3.3V, 20A max.; 350watts capacity
