User credentials blank when trying to connect to esxi server

We have installed PCNS using the .ova file for version 4.3.0 build 7951

ESXi - 6.7.0 update 3 Build 15160138

vSphere Client version 6.7.0.42000

we can connect to the vSphere VCenter server using an account called svcapc

we have set the default domain to allow for this account to authenticate without the need to enter the full domain. This authenticaiton is successful.

however when the PCNS tries to communicate with either of the two servers in the cluster managed by the VCenter server, we get the following error:

it is as though the user account is not being passed from the PCNS server to the esxi server

can anyone help with this please?

Hi,

You need to create the svcapc user with the same credentials on each of the hosts. I have attached 2 links to videos that demonstrate adding a user to vCenter and to a host.

yes I have double checked that I have already added the user svcapc to the VCenter and hosts with the same credentials.

What other information do I need to provide that will help?

What is entered in the PowerChute error.log file? Also, what VMware license is on each of the hosts?

So the login is not correct which we know. Where is the config file for the users?

Hi,

The user login info is encrypted on the PowerChute VM. It is not saved in a configuration / text file. On the ESXi host the users are save in /etc/passwd and the passwords are encrypted.

A test you can run is to follow the instruction provided in the video for creating a user on a host. Create a new user as shown i.e. powerchute-user being sure to add admin privileges. Then open PowerChute web interface and go the PowerChute Setup. Configure PowerChute for a single host instead of for vCenter. Enter the new user credentials for the host. PowerChute will connect to the host to verify communication. If it fails, you will see an error "Connection error due to invalid logon credential". If it does not fail run a shutdown test to verify PowerChute can power off the host.

If the shutdown works properly create the same user on vCenter and the other host/s.
