Hi,
Im looking to update the firmware of my SMT1500RM2U. Current Device info as follows;
UPS: 08.8
MCU:17.0
UBL: 0.8.5
MBL:17.0
I have the USB Firmware update wizard too connected but Im looking to ensure I use the correct firmware. The Canadian page for my ups lists three files;
1. Secure NMC System (SNS) Tool for SU and NMC3 v3.0 Firmware Release (3.0.0.12)
2. Network Management Card 3 (NMC3) Firmware V2.5.0.6
3. Network Management Card 2 (NMC2) v7.1.2 Firmware
I assume #2 and #3 are for the network card firmwares which I do not have. Is #1 what Im looking for? I dont want to brick my UPS here.
Heres the lin kto the product page for the Canadian site:
Thank you

No, all three files pertain to the NMC. The first one is for the APC subscription for the NMC.
As it relates to the UPS firmware you need to compare it to the APC FAQ. This document calls out the requirements and what needs to be in place to qualify for a firmware update.
https://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA164737/
The short version is if the unit was built during a specific production date. That can be found on the About / LCD or by reading the serial number on the unit.
Lastly, firmware updates should be guided by APC Technical Support if under warranty. If the unit is out of warranty the risk to you and the hardware is extremely high! ☝️
Firmware should only be loaded based on security, bugs, feature enhancements. You have a more than 50% chance of bricking the unit during a firmware upgrade.
If you’ve read this far and feel lucky. 🤣
You’ll need the required APC serial cable or one you’ve made and tested to work. You will need a laptop that is compatible and properly configured. Lastly you will need the correct firmware for the model you intend to update. Assuming your model falls in the correct production date, ID, etc
