Unable to get "Change Energy Cost" to stick

This question was originally posted by Alan on APC forums on 10/26/2012

Could someone please tell me what I am doing wrong? I am attempting to get PowerChute Personal 3.0.2 running on Windows 7 64 bit to change the energy cost from its default £0.00 /kwh. I enter a figure and then click on the OK button, but the cost is not changed. Am I doing something silly?

It used to work as I got a figure back when I first installed the software (July 2012?), but on checking today how much energy I had used since then, I'm told it hasn't cost me anything. This is because it tells me "Your energy usage is currently calculated at a cost of £0.00 per kiloWatt Hour (kWh)."

it is possible that a database has been corrupted. the fastest way to fix that would be to uninstall and reinstall. if that is completely out of the question, let me know but ultimately you'd have to get a clean database in there.

Re: Unable to get "Change Energy Cost" to stick

The "delete and reinstall" answer is only partially correct. Make sure that you apply "Run as administrator" to reinstall. If the install is successful, then you will immediately be shown a screen to set the price and cost/kwh parameters.

The reinstall will delete all information/ accumulated data previously recorded data, including any recorded battery tests.
