UPS in Datacenter
Hi,
I am procuring a 10KVA APC UPS for the datacenter of the company I work at. The vendor that was called in for survey said that it is standard practice to directly connect 1PSU of dual power supply devices to electrical outlet and the second PSU to UPS. Is this really true? I am insisting on having everything connected to the UPS.
If what the vendor is saying is true, then it pretty much defeats the electrical protection provided by the UPS? Looking for valuable inputs.
Connecting the servers to an outlet and a UPS prevents a single point of failure. NOTE: If you plug into an AC outlet, that AC outlet should be surge protected.
