I've 2 Powerchute network shutdown installed in my environment. 1 is installed on a physical server with window server 2008 r2 sp1 and another is installed on vma5.1. The UPS model is RT 3000 XL and the NMC is AP9630.
I enable the turn off ups option on the vma powerchute client.
When I test the on the shutdown, the physical and the virtual machine and the physical host was shutdown. But the UPS was not able to turn off. I UPS will turn off after the battery wears off.
I checked the log in the powerchute client, and the ups turn off was initiated.
Here is my physical server powerchute setting
vma powerchute setting
UPS NMC setting
Powerchute log
UPS event only stated the vma powerchute shutdown but the physical server powerchute shutdown was not recorded.
I've attached the ups log

I would install it on a Windows system that is on the same network segment and the vMA.

Hi,
How much runtime does the UPS show when the server/s are running and how long does the UPS run for after the server/s are powered down? The event log shows
05/13/2013 20:06:28 UPS: A graceful shutdown process is being used to shut down the load equipment before the UPS turns off. Initiated by PowerChute ns from 192.168.100.26.
05/13/2013 21:09:56 UPS: The output power is turned off.
That indicates the UPS was commanded off at 20:06 and at 21:09 the UPS cut output power. Is this correct?
If it is could you run the test again and this time run wireshark http://www.wireshark.org/ to monitor TCP and UDP traffic between the PCNS client/s and the UPS. Would like to see UDP traffic on port 3052 from the NMC (source IP) to the PCNS machine (Destination IP) and HTTP traffic (TCP port 80) from the PCNS machine to the NMC - to verify that PCNS is issuing a HTTP post to turn off the UPS and what delay value is being included in this command.

Hi Bill,
At 21.09 UPS was power down due to battery power was depleted.
I try to test the communication of PCNS and NMC with wireshark this week

Hi Bill,
For the wireshark, where should I install it?
