Two new UPS, slightly different names

I've been tasked to set up the two new UPS's we got. One is a SMX32200RMLV2U and the other is a SMT2200RM2U. As best I can tell so far, I'll be using thge same documentation to set up and manage them. Is that correct?

Hi,

The unit are very similar but there are differences. The SMX2200RMLV2U maximum output is 1.98 KWatts and the SMT2200RM2U maximum is 1.92. This is due to efficiency enhancements. You can add external battery packs to the SMX2200RMLV2U to increase the runtime. The SMX2200RMLV2U has 3 independent switched outlet groups where the SMT2200RM2U has 2 switched outlet groups. A controlled outlet group i.e. group 1 and a Main outlet group.

Usage and setup is the same with the exception of configuring the items I mentions above. You will find their technical specifications and setup documentation at these links. SMX2200RMLV2U SMT2200RM2U

Hi Eric,

Models beginning with SMX and SMT are slightly different but at a high level, are very similar. They both plug in the same, have pretty much the same LCD front panel, offer switched outlet groups, etc but because of their low level differences, they do offer slightly different settings, mounting options, and external battery pack capability to name a few. They do both support PowerChute Business Edition for USB or serial communications to a computer or you can install a UPS Network Management Card using the Smart-UPS firmware application.

This knowledge base covers majority of the different UPS generations and you'll see SMX and SMT listed: http://www.schneider-electric.us/en/faqs/FA230533

I guess the detailed answer to your question means what you mean by setting up and managing them. You can plug them both in and turn them on and leave them and the process is the same but if you want to start configuring PowerChute, outlet groups, threshold settings, etc the options and process may be slightly different. They should each come with their own user guide and documentation I believe in the box.

Hope that helps get you started!
