I am trying to get the global outlet function to work between two AP7930 units. They are both plugged directly into a Dell PowerConnect 5324. Do I need to configure the switch in some way to get the multicast traffic to work? The switch seems to be the thing causing the problem, but there is very little info out there regarding this. I have been in contact with APC support and apparently my config works for them in their test environment, so it's looking more and more like the switch is the problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

hi jerry,
your issue was forwarded to me and i am the actual person that uploaded your config to my two test units.
the rep dealing with your issue emailed me a question this morning and i replied with the following info:
Ok, here are a few things to try:
1.) Telnet into each PDU and use the Ping utility to ensure that each PDU can at least ping the other PDU. This option is located the (2) Network-> (3) Ping Utility in the telnet menu interface.
2.) Has the customer verified that multicast traffic is not being blocked on their network? If so, how did they verify? Same with the port 9952 being blocked? What did he try to change the port to?
3.) Is it possible for the customer to do a packet capture? He'd either need to use a hub so he can see all of the network traffic or he'd have to mirror a switch port so that he can see traffic from all ports, due to the nature of how a switch operates. Also, he'd need to make sure the computer he uses can force its network card into promiscuous mode. It might be possible to see multicast traffic through the capture but I would suggest that he check options #1 and #2 before we do #3 since it will probably be a pain to do.
Questions:
1.) Does the customer have any other PDUs on the network that Global Outlet Groups works correctly on?
2.) Did the configuration ever work correctly?
