Hello all,
I have a Smart-UPS RT 6000 RM XL powering 10 physical servers.
This morning the following alarms were sent to my email:
Critical Alarm 3 Critical Alarms Present
In Bypass: Hardware Fault
Inverter Fault
Self-Test Failed
I've never had issues with it until now, it's been running solid for over a year now. Here is some more info on the unit:
Load in Watts 53.0 %
Battery Capacity 55.0 %
Input Voltage: 207.3 VAC
Output Voltage: 207.3 VAC
Runtime Remaining: 2 hours 24 minutes
Last Battery Transfer: Due to software command or UPS's test control
What am I able to do about this? I assume it's running straight off power from the wall now, is that what bypass means?
Is there any way I can reboot it or something, without losing power to the servers? These are production servers, I can't turn them off until maybe midnight tonight when usage is low.
Please assist. Thanks!

Here is some more info on the three alarms:
UPS: Refused a self-test; UPS is overloaded.
UPS: An inverter fault exists.
UPS: In bypass in response to an internal hardware fault.

Yes, bypass means it's passing power straight from the wall. No, you can't reboot anything without powering off your equipment.
The unit looks like it has a system fault and may need to be replaced. I'd call in to tech support (800-555-2725) and see what your options are, though they probably can't do much if everything is live and you're unable to take things down until midnight. Call center hours are 8am-8pm EST. They'll probably have you turn off all of the equipment and the UPS to see if the fault can be cleared.
If it's only 1 year old, it should still be well within warranty, though in my experience the factory warranty based on the serial number doesn't always reflect that. You'll want to call in with a proof of purchase handy if the 3rd and 4th digits in the serial number aren't 08 or 09.
