Leon,
A bad NMC firmware wouldn't and shouldn't cause this power factor fault on a UPS. Can you provide the model number of your UPS and is it providing output power even though it has a fault?
The PowerNet file that you saw is not the firmware of the UPS, it is an MiB file that is used for SNMP. We load it on a network managment server i.e. GetIf, SolarWinds for them to have a full view of the OIDs

Hi Glenn,
The problem that you are experiencing may occur if the network card is not able to load the application (AOS). I have seen on the photo that you are running an earlier version of the firmware. I suggest to perform an NMC firmware upgrade and observe if this made any improvements
The firmware upgrade utility can be downloaded from link below:
Once downloaded on a PC that is connected on the same network as the NMC, run the application and provide the necessary credentials (IP Address, username, and password) and click "upgrade now" to apply the new firmware.
Once the new firmware has been applied, login on the NMC, and check if the problem has been cleared by the firmware upgrade.

Hello Justine,
Thank you for your reply. The upgrade went successfully, however it didn't solve the problem.
I was able to logon after the upgrade, I had to switch off and on the UPS, but I was kicked off when I tried to access one of the menu.
The message was "booting" en after this the standard message "The Application Is Incompatible With This APC OS".
I tried to login from different browsers but again no luck even from another computer.

Hi,
Please send screen shots like the ones you attached earlier. The earlier shots showed A! which indicates the application is not recognized. I would like to see if that is still the case after the upgrade.

This could be because there is some corruption in the system some place. If the application on the NMC cannot boot after 6 attempts, it will stop and also display this message "Application is incompatible with the APC OS" even though it is the correct application.
Ideally, I'd say let's wipe the configuration off of the management card and see if it boots properly after that. We have two options to try - resetToDef command which should still work if you type ? at the command line. Type "resetToDef ?" to see the options for it and one of them includes keeping the TCP/IP settings (-p keepip I think). You could try that if you can afford to lose the configuration (which if you have a config.ini anywhere or a backup, we could re-load it later). You type reboot after that is done and yes to confirm the reboot.
If you are local and can reset even the IP address, I recommend going a step beyond reset to defaults and "format" the entire file system. You'd type the format command at the CLI and type yes to confirm it then reboot and yes to confirm that. Then, the NMC would be factory fresh and be attempting DHCP or you can re-connect to it using serial cable or other configuration tools we offer (Device IP Configuration Wizard, ARP, etc) to reconfigure the IP and go from there.
Furthermore, before you reset anything, sometimes I like to remove the network cable and press and release the pinhole reset button and see if it stops. Maybe there is a weird packet type or something on the network causing this. You'd have to have local access to monitor this option too - you can watch the status LED and see if it indicates a reboot (green and orange alternating and flashing rapidly) or if it goes to solid green. The press/release of the pinhole reset button will tell the card to try and boot again after it gets stuck with the error you're seeing in the web. You could also log in via serial and see if the eventlog command works if it can boot the application with no network cable connected.
Let me know if you have any questions on any of this.

Hi Admin
I am having the same issue on my UPS.
After reading a bit i did the reset thing, hold button in for longer than 20Seconds, after that i was able to update the firmware to Rev. 6.40 but this did not deem to help, i still get the same message.
Any other idea of getting access to the NMC?

Hi Leon,
Were you able to install all the three firmware of the network management card? I would suggest that you follow the FAQ outlined on the URL below:
Using Network Management Card 2 (NMC2) bootmonitor to recover/upgrade firmware

Hi Jonathan
Thank you for the assistance, i updated the NMC via the serial link and i now have access to the NMC via the network.
The only strange thing is i now have an Critical error for some reason - "A power factor correction fault exists"???
Can the NMC issues have caused this?
This unit was working and was put in storage for 4 months with the batteries removed. The unit gave me the "The Application Is Incompatible With This APC OS" error on power up and now i have a "A power factor correction fault exists" as well. Will a firmware update of the UPS solve this?
I see there is a powernet419.mib file under the firmware for this UPS, but i do not see any place on the UI to upload new firmware.
