Good day Henrik,

Let's make some things clear: you said the the UPS has stopped "seeing" the batteries, which means that the systems has worked before. second, I would be surprised if you have connected third party batteries, I am not sure you can do that on this model.
Now: check the comm cable between the UPS and battery( the rj-45 cable), check the rotary dial to be configured for the right number on battery cabs, check if the terminator is installed, ... also you might try to flash the card in order to refresh the communication between modules.
How old are the batteries, how many packs are phisycally presents, and check to be all of the same batch; usually they are identified by a letter and a number, make sure the things matches.
The UPS is smart and it sees recognizes immediatelly its environment..
Hope I could help...
take care
M

hi henrik,

it'd be helpful to see the event log and other files available from the UPS to see what caused this and see exactly what the issue is.

can you provide the event.txt, data.txt and config.ini so i can help further? instructions are here -> http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9321

I connected to the UPS via IP and noticed that the information wasnt there...... Also the UPS tells me a backup time that is not correct.

Im doing service on the UPS and before I can test it I need to get that information into the unit so the customer gets a more correct image of their backup time...

Kind regards

Henrik

well you can get these items remotely over a network connection to the NMC. but if you cant currently, i would say that 95% of the UPS configuration can be done within the network management card. i am not 100% sure on this UPS how it works with batteries so that is why i am questioning it. i have a PX40 in my lab and i am not sure of a way to tell it there are batteries since it should detect them automatically - that is why i am wondering if something else is causing the batteries to not show up.

if you log in via the web, all of your configuration is on the UPS tab.

Tha batteries are external to the UPS so that can be why it wont detect them..... So it must be possible to tell the unit what type and size that is connected πŸ˜‰

you should have it i think. and yes, telnet will be different. the web UI is the same between an AP9617/18/19 NMC1 or AP9630/31 NMC2 but the telnet interface is different. when you log in, if you get menu options, its an NMC1 and if there is just a blinking cursor and you can type commands, its an NMC2.

if AP9617 with a menu driven telnet interface, when you log in, go to 1-Device Manager, 1-Symmetra 80K, 3-Configuration, 4-General, 3-Batt Frame amp hours, and then enter the value in.then make sure you press 4-Accept Changes on that menu and it says success or your settings won't save and you'll need to do it over again.

if AP9630/31, you'll need to update this via the web UI or using a setting in the config.ini file and transfer it to the card since the option isnt available on the CLI yet.
