Symmetra LX and network management card(s)

Has anyone got two Network Management cards to work in an Symmetra LX? We have two networks we want to control with the Symmetra LX. There are two cards slots and some documentation states you can have two cards. After updating the firmware on the second card it now gets an IP from the second network's DHCP server but when I connect to the card from a browser I can log onto the card but it does NOT see the UPS. The error is Cannot communicate with the UPS. So:

Top slot: AP9619 (card we added) CANNOT communicate with Symmetra LX
Bottom slot: AP9618 (original card) can communicate with Symmetra LX

swapped cards
Top slot: AP9618 (original card) CANNOT communicate with Symmetra LX
Bottom slot: AP9619 (card we added) can communicate with Symmetra LX

So it appears the top slot may have to be enabled. Any ideas?

A teammate started this and I finished. He updated the APC OS (AOS) and I updated the Application Module. We needed to do both. Instead of saying firmware I should of said AOS.

if that doesnt work, there is a possibility theres something wrong with that top slot. definitely let us know what happens and we can follow up with you.

Cap1 would be disappointed to hear that the NMC firmware application was not verified. Glad you got this to work, even if the story -- as pointed out by winna -- doesn't quite make sense.

Hi Jim,

Nothing is required to enable the top slot. I installed two network management cards into my LX and it works fine. I would recommend checking to see if any of the LED’s light when the cards are in the top slot.

Thanks. Great to know I can add two cards. The person I talked to at APC wasn't sure. I'll try the reseating the communication card over the weekend. I'm expanding a LUN and nothing should happen when I reseat the card but I am going to waint till the LUN is done.

APC helped solve this. Here is what we discovered. We took an AP9618 management card out of a decommisioned Matrix. We updated the firmware and thought we were done. What we should of also done was upload the correct Application Module (sy). We had sumx which is for the Matrix.
Thanks for the help.

doesnt make sense to me why the card communicated with the UPS at one point with incorrect firmware.

were you able to see UPS data with it when it was communicating?

but i am glad you got it solved! 🙂
