Electric Pressure Washers vs Gas Pressure Washers: Which One to Choose?

Having a high pressure washer around the house can be a huge advantage. You can tackle just about any cleaning project, no matter how hard, with  Best pressure washer brands. Pressure washing can solve even the toughest of problems like oil stains and stubborn, dirty coatings on patio furniture.

Still, if you have been on the market trying to find a new pressure washer to buy for a while, you may already know about a problem that haunts many a shopper: electric or gas?

In this article, we’ll compare all of the advantages and disadvantages of either types to make it easier for you to form a decision.

Electric Pressure Washers

The best pressure washers that run on electricity are typically very affordable in spite of their limited performance. After all, there is only so much power you can extract from a universal 15-amp electric motor. Electric pressure washers usually don’t generate sprays with higher PSI than 2000. Typically, the average electric pressure washer falls in the 1500 to 1800 PSI range.

Their flow rates aren’t usually high, either, clocking in roughly between 1.4 to 1.5 GPM. It’s going to be quite challenging for you if you want to find an electric pressure washer that can offer more cleaning power than that.

But even though there is a cap on performance, you can pick from a pretty diverse range of motor types. You can have induction motors that technically cool themselves using the water that’s running through the unit, thus, improving longevity. You can also get a boost in cleaning power in certain high-end models equipped with axial cam pumps or even triplex plunger pumps.

Naturally, electric pressure washers are more environmentally-friendly and if you’re going to use them indoors they’re generally the safer option because they don’t emit noxious fumes like gas powered washers do. They’re also typically more compact, more lightweight, and easier to use. These machines are considerably quieter during operation than gas washers, so you won’t disturb the neighbors or your family while using the washer for a clean-up.

Gas Pressure Washers

Vice versa, gas pressure washers are the go-to type if you are seeking raw cleaning power. In terms of power, even the cheapest gas pressure washers can triumph over the strongest of electric pressure washers with water pressure between 2000 PSI and 2500 PSI.

You can find industrial-grade models that can offer you powerful pressure in the range of above 4000 PSI.

The typical flow rates of gas pressure washers are usually around 2.5 GPM. However, on the lower-end of the market, the average flow rate of a good pressure washer can be as low as 1.5 GPM, but it is still more than enough for most cleaning jobs around the house.

Because gas washers are expected to be more powerful and durable, good ones are designed with solid metal components, heavy duty pumps, and strong engine blocks. You will usually find the water hoses to gas washers to be steel-threaded to withstand the higher pressure that gas washers operate at, too.

For this, gas washers demand considerably less maintenance and will need less part replacements throughout their lifespan than electric washers which employ flimsier plastic parts and components.

Conclusion

In conclusion, if you need efficiency and ease of use as well as not having too much requirement for a truly heavy duty washer then the Best rated pressure washer  running on electric power will be just fine. On the other hand, if you demand longevity and a workhorse, gas powered washers are the way to go.

Hi

If you reach out to our customer care team we can get the logs and raw status data from you to see what's going on.

I have seen these symptoms caused by a faulty power module or an old hot battery before, especially where the display shows the UPS online and on battery at the same time

Regards

Matt.
