Symmeta UPC - Site wiring fault.

Hello,

We just purchased a symmetra UPC, wired it over the weekend. At this point everything seems to be OK, other than the occasional Site Wiring Fault Message that keeps displaying on the LCD. Can anyone tell me what that means? I've tripled checked and had an electrician check the wiring.

thanks in advance!!

Hi,

We do not share schematics of APC products as they contain proprietary information. I am having trouble understanding what the issue is that you're asking about. I can share with you why a UPS reports a site wiring fault which that detail is here -> http://www.apc.com/support/index?page=content&country=ITB〈=en&locale=en_US&id=FA157507

Furthermore, we have two varieties for Symmetra LX and there are two different power module models - SYPM4KP for North America use which does 208V or 240V 2ph, neutral and a ground and then there is SYPM4KI for international use - 220V/230V/240V. You can't mix and match those together as they are designed for different electrical environments.

Regardless, if you have further questions, please clarify what you're asking and share the exact model of UPS, input voltage setting, and power module part number(s) in use. Alternatively, you can also contact local technical support in your region for more specific assistance if you'd like.

Please see below;

http://nam-en.apc.com/cgi-bin/nam_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=7229&p_created=1124114838&p...

The Symmetra LX UPS system is designed to operate off nominal input voltages of either 208V or 240V consisting of 2 phases, a neutral and ground. Despite which nominal input voltage is supplied, 208V or 240V, the individual phase values should each be 120V. In the event that there is an 8% voltage difference between the 2 phases (i.e. phase (1) reports 120V and phase (2) reports 110V), the UPS will indicate “site wiring fault”. In the event that there is a 10% voltage difference between the 2 phases, the UPS will operate on battery power. To rectify the fault, the utility power will need to be addressed.

If the UPS does not detect a neutral, it will also report a site wiring fault.

I  am also confronting the same problem with APC Lx Symmetra.I have bought 4 in # APC LX symmetra having 2 phase +neutral+ground.

One guy reported me that he has set in order the same UPS and succeeded to operate on 230 V phase +neutral.I bought 3 in # UPS from that guy.Now the said 3 UPS are running OK but mine are not.I am an electronics engineering and compared for any diffirence or modification in the ciruit diagram.But I could not detect any modidfication.Might he chaged the software or else but I am still worried about my 4 in # UPS.I want to know the reason how the said guy made the UPS to run on 230 V +Neutral but I could do the same yet.

You are requested to kindly send me the diagram of the power module.I am sure that I would be able to run my UPS single phase +Neutral.
