Hello
Trying to get started with a SmartUPS DL3000RMI3U.
Know it's old but I'll have it for my NAS and router in my home.
The batteries were bad, so just installed new batteries so that works well for my needs.
In any case, the SmartUPS DL3000RMI3U is the model and is probably purchased via Dell sometime in a long time ago.
Have acquired an AP9606 card for it but now I'm trying to get started here.
How should I do? Have tried to connect via serial port but no luck.
Only get a blank terminal, with a flashing cursor.
Would you like to put a fixed ip on the card, how does it work? Do I need software to connect it to my computer? Do they cost anything?
Run windows 2016 on my server with a couple of Hyper-V hosts.
What is the cable I need for serial communication with it? Product code?
The serial number of UPS is GD0036004204 if it is helpful.
Thanks in advance
/ Tony

Hi,
Can you communicate with the UPS if the NMC is removed? The baud rate is 2400, 8 bits, stop bits 1, parity none, flow control none. Once connected type upper case Y and the unit should respond with SM to signify it is communicating in Smart Signalling mode. If you can communicate with the UPS with the card removed that would indicate an issue with the card.

Hi Tony,
All of the information needed to put a static IP on an AP9606 can be found in this article: http://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA156064/
You don't need to purchase special software - if you're going to use the serial method, all you would need is the 940-0024 or 940-1524 serial cable.

Hi Tony,
Can you read the product number off of the serial cable? Are you using a 940-0024 or 940-1524? Also, what connection speeds and terminal program are you using?

Hello again.
Now i have got a new cable labeled "940-1524C".
Sama result as before. No luck to communicate with my UPS.
Tried Hyperterminal, TeraTerm, and Putty as client software but receive just the exactly same thing.
Tried baudrate 2400, 9600, 19200. Just a flasing square marker on the screen, any tips please?
