Hi, new to UPS in general and need some advice on a Smart-UPS 3000 i picked up to support my small home lab of 3 DL580. UPS powers up ok. Battery was exhausted when i purchased. Connected to utility power and powered on. Battery charge bottom light started flashing (assume charging?) and utility power led on left came on. after 4 hours battery charge was nearly full. connected 2 of the outputs, one to each of my cabinet PDU. and powered on. Load indicator on left went to around the 50% mark. All seemed good. switched utility power off. UPS beeped 5 times and shutdown. Restored utility power and it tripped the MCB in my consumer unit. reset MCB. pressed the power button on the UPS, MCB trips again. Removed load from UPS, reset MCB pressed power button on UPS, powers on but shows battery charging from 0 again. Total load is around 600W so dont think its a load issue. Doesnt have an APC network card, although one on order.
just seems as though the whole charge is being dumped when power removed? Also not sure its relevant but adding just in case. The TVSS isnt connected to anything.
Hoping someone can shed some light.

Hi,
What is the exact model and serial number of the UPS? You will find the information on the bar code sticker.
Most UPS will inform you when the battery is bad however the battery may not fail during a selftest but will drop when AC is lost.

Is the unit new used or new from Schneider Electric? If new from Schneider Electric you should contact local support for assistance. If new used I suggest replacing the battery depending on the age of the UPS. If the UPS is greater than 8 years old you may be better off replacing the entire unit.

thanks Bill, i mean I am New to UPS, ie i dont know much about them, hence looking for advice on this forum. If the battery needed replacement, should there not be an error light? I’m happy to purchase a new pack if thats the issue, but would rather know thats the issue before laying out for that cost. I dont know the history of the UPS, its possible the batteries are brand new, or they could be the originals for manufacture. Was hoping there was a more scientific way of determining the problem.
