Smart-UPS VT 40 kVA and mechanical bypass

Hello,

We have Smart-UPS VT 40 kVA w/4 Batt Mod Exp to 4, int Maint Bypass, Parallel Capable SUVTP40KH4B4S, PS0813240713, Firmware Revision: 912.0405.I.

There are two critical mistakes:

In bypass in response to an internal hardware fault.

A power module fault exists.

Can we try to reboot to get rid of them?

We have done restart of the device. And “raw status” now is OK. No mistakes at all!

Hello Vladimir,

I suggest first contacting the technical support group for your region:
http://www.apc.com/site/support/index.cfm/contact-information/ (choose your county with the drop down menu, so it will give you the approriate tech support phone#)

They will be able to help you gather Raw Data on the faulted module, decode it, and suggesting the next steps.

This may include reseating the UPS power module, but I would not suggest taken any action till going over the data with tech support.

If it does get to point where you will be reseating the module. I would suggest putting the whole system to external bypass as you have done before. Power the UPS down completely (opening the input breaker, and pulling out all the batteries). then reseat the module (With the batteries still pulled out). Then restore power (insert all batteries, and supply input power). And continue to return from bypass operation if the UPS appears to be running without fault (if faults persists, you will likely need to replace the UPS power module).
