Hi all,
I'm new to the APC UPS game so please excuse any errors in my question...
I am trying to apply a firmware upgrade to a SMX1500 unit. Apparently an upgrade from 3.7 to 3.8 will help fix a problem with continuous "voltage input" errors which ultimately result in the unit shutting down.
From what I understand, this is a firmware upgrade for the UPS itself and not the management card.
In any case, I recieved some files from APC that are to be used to perform the upgrade. One is a wizard entitled "UPSFirmwareUpgradeWizard.exe"; and the other is "smx11UPS_03-8.enc". I have tried launching the executable but all it does is briefly flash a DOS window and then.... nothing.
Anyone out there have any experience with this procedure?

Hi Stephanie,
It looks like the copy that you have is corrupted. Have you asked our rep to send you another copy or have tried installing it on another PC?

Hi Chris,
I strongly recommend that you call our APC Technical Support Team at 1-800-800-4272 to properly guide you in doing the firmware upgrade. There are a lot of things that should be checked first prior to initializing the Firmware Upgrade.

Do you have a resolution to this issue? I am trying to upgrade the firmware on the same unit & keep running into all sorts of issues with the installation file/wizard that they are sending (I've attached a copy of the error I receive when trying to run the wizard). It has been a battle, needless to say. Just curious if your problem was resolved.
