Smart-UPS 3000 Model: DLA3000RM2U

I am looking for insight on this unit as I have no manual. One of the batteries require replacement, so I would like to get in depth information before proceeding. We have PowerChute Business Edition 9.0.1 at the moment. Could someone assist with the questions below please?

1. Can this units batteries be hot swapped?

2. Are there any defined steps that should be taken, in order to "reset" the unit once the new batteries are installed?

Thank you in advance.

I restarted the server itself and the self test is in progress.

  1. Yes, batteries are hot swappable. Just be advised that when they are removed, you have no battery back up for that few minutes they are removed if there is a power blip or event.
  2. Let the UPS charge for at least 8 hours. You'll want to run a UPS self test after the charge reaches 100% to clear any replace battery alarms and after the battery is charged up. Then, you should check your available runtime to make sure it updates within the PowerChute software. If it does not, issue a runtime calibration via PowerChute which will discharge the UPS to 10-20% capacity (not affecting your load) and then charge back up to recalculate the runtime. Also, update the UPS battery replacement date within PowerChute so you know when it was last replaced.

Good Morning,

The new battery has been installed and all went smooth. However, I now get an error using the PowerChute Business edition. When trying to perform a self-test, it produces an error "Set request failed, Please try again". It will not allow me to make any changes. The USB cable is attached and I have tried restarting the APC PBE Agent / Server which did not correct the issue.

Any ideas on how this can be resolved?

Thank you in advance.
