Smart-UPS 1500i battery warning then normal

I have a Smart-UPS 1500i that in the last two days has occasionally been bleeping and flashing the Replace Battery light, with all the battery status lights off. After a while (haven't timed it, but probably 5 to 10 minutes), the alarm stops and the battery status goes back to full charge.

I installed PowerChute Business Edition and it reports 100% battery charge at 27.5V in normal state and 'No batteries connected' in the alarm state.essay writer

Is this simply a function of battery age, or could there be an incipient fault in the unit?

I had exactly the same issue with my Smart-UPS 1500i and I purchased new batteries but the unit seemed to be functioning as it should, so I left it as it was.

Yesterday there was a power outage and the old batteries exhausted before I could shutdown my computers. I took the opportunity to replace the batteries with the new ones. When the power returned, the battery condition LEDs are continuously flashing when there is any load. PowerChute Business Edition still reports: 

I cannot understand why it is reporting 0min Runtime Remaining and at the same time 100% Battery Charge.
Can anyone explain or offer a way to reconfigure?

If runtime remaining is 8 minutes or less , then the battery bar graph LEDs will flash in unison.  The batteries inside of the Smart-UPS are controlled by a microprocessor within the UPS. Sometimes it is necessary to reset this microprocessor, especially after the installation of new batteries.
