I have a Smart-UPS 1500i that in the last two days has occasionally been bleeping and flashing the Replace Battery light, with all the battery status lights off. After a while (haven't timed it, but probably 5 to 10 minutes), the alarm stops and the battery status goes back to full charge.

I installed PowerChute Business Edition and it reports 100% battery charge at 27.5V in normal state and 'No batteries connected' in the alarm state.

Is this simply a function of battery age, or could there be an incipient fault in the unit?
