Smart-UPS 1500 Firmware Upgrade V18.0 Not Compatible from Website.
Hello Support,
I have been unable to update the firmware on Smart-UPS 1500 via the Website and locally on the UPS display panel. Can you provide any ideas on resolving this issue. Locally I have power cycled the UPS unit and tried the prompts on the display, without success. I've attached 2 JPGs providing all serial & model numbers for this issue.

There are a few things to consider relating to this problem in no specific order of importance.
Firmware: The image capture indicates your device was manufactured in 2024. The current firmware listed on your screen capture indicates v6.XX?!?
The UPS firmware started at v16 so not sure why it has such an early version from 2024 . . .
The image capture indicates the UPS ID is 1027 for this SMT1500. As such v18 is applicable to your system. Confirm both UPS ID and current UPS Firmware via the LCD Menu.
Active Faults / Errors: The system must be free of any active faults / errors before you can begin the firmware update process. Go to the logs / LCD and call out all faults / errors on the system.
Update: Depending upon UPS firmware there may be an option via the LCD Menu that asks / prompts you to accept / continue the firmware update process.
Security: Due to several exploits depending upon firmware the NMC / Smart Connect port may be disabled. As such it will not allow firmware to be initiated via network LAN / WAN until it has been upgraded to v18.
In v18 firmware there will be three options to enable / disable the serial ports if applicable: USB, Serial, NMC
Local: If the above is true than use the supplied proprietary DB9 RS-232 -> RJ50 Serial cable and update the UPS firmware directly via the FUW (Firmware Update Wizard).
The FUW will automatically detect the UPS ID and present you the correct firmware. Do (NOT) browse the directory and select another firmware unless instructed by APC Technical Support.
Firmware should be done while the device is in warranty live over the phone with APC Technical Support.
NOTE: Request APC Technical Support confirm v6 firmware is valid on this machine. If so request they confirm there isn’t an interim firmware or (FUW) available to step upgrade prior to v18.
Insure you fully understand and meet all prerequisites in the firmware upgrade process as outlined in the APC FAQ:
