Hello all,
I have a Smart-UPS 1000 with AP9606 NMC for my server.
I use PowerChute Network Shutdown to shutdown my ESX when I have a power failure.
I will need to calculate the energy cost but I don't know how to calculate this ! With my previously UPS wired toUSB, I had an estimation with Powerchute business edition.
So, how to calculate the energy cost (estimation) based on UPS load ? Do you have a formula ? A software ? Other ?
Below, the detail of my UPS :
Describes utility power status
Input Voltage: 244.8 VAC
Input Frequency: 50.00 Hz
Maximum Line Voltage: 243.3 VAC
Minimum Line Voltage: 236.1 VAC
Describes output power status
Output Voltage: 243.3 VAC
Output Frequency: 50.00 Hz
Load Power: 019.5 % Watts
Describes battery status
Battery Capacity: 100.0 %
Runtime Remaining: 0101 Minutes
Battery Voltage: 27.40 VDC
And the server power supply is a 460 Watts.
Thanks & regards,
Romain

What do you mean by energy cost?
The amount used by the server, the UPS of the whole system?

Hello Gavan,
My UPS is only used by my server.
With the UPS statistics, I would like to estimate the number of watts used by the server and deduce the number of KWh.
Finally, I would like to know the energy consumed by the server (estimation). I think that maybe with the load and other information from the UPS, I can estimate this consumption.
Thanks & regards,
Romain

Hi Romain,
Sorry, I just realised you have an SNMP web card and not an NMC that type of card is probably close to 15/20 years old and well before my time.
If you can log into it and find the Amps used then it's:
Voltage * Amps = Watts
Watts / 1000 = KW
KW * Unit cost of electricity = Cost per Hour
Cost per Hour * Runtime = Cost

Your best bet might be to add an external power monitoring socket in line with the UPS outlet.
Personally I've used a few TP-Link HS110s but there is dozens of similar devices on amazon, your other option is to work out it out based on the load taking into account power factor and efficiency but that would neither be worth the effort nor would it be accurate.
