Site wiring and step down transformer

Good day,

I am now living in Kenya which is 220V and I have a television and home theater rated for 110v.

My setup is: Step down converter 220v -> 110v (ELC 2000W TR-2000 voltage regulator) then the APC SMT750 connected to the transformer.

I get the Site Wiring warning on the UPS. I am wondering if it's because of the neutral and ground that could be inverted as explain there: http://www.gson.org/stepdown/.

The UPS power connector is 3 prongs so I cannot connect it the other way around.

The site wiring fault warning can appear for more than one reason. The most common is an open (disconnected) ground.

The site you linked actually shows what happens when hot and neutral are swapped, not neutral and ground. Even if the plug can only be inserted one way, this could still happen to you. Errors can exist in building wiring that result in hot and neutral swaps. If you plug your transformer and UPS into one of those, the result will be the same as indicated on that web page: a burned MOV that may fail shorted and result in the cases of your equipment becoming electrically live if the safety ground is not present!

The only truly safe option is to replace your UPS and other equipment with 220 volt versions.
