Shutdown of ESXi VMs?

Is it possible to configure APC network management card to work with vmware ESXi such that when there is a power trip, it will trigger all the VMs to shutdown?

yes, that is what the powerchute network shutdown software does, then you follow the instructions noted above for the VMs.
