Hi,
we have the following scenario:
Hyper-V Cluster with two redundant hypervisors in different locations. Hypervisor 1 and SAN are located in location 1, Hypervisor 2 is located in location2. Both Hypervisors are connected to the same SAN in location 1. All VMs (VHDs) are located on the SAN. Both locations are protected by Smart UPS (equipped with UPS Network Management Card 2). UPS 1 is in located in location 1, UPS 2 is located in location 2.
If location 2 looses Power it will migrate the VMs running on Hypervisor 2 to Hypervisor 1.
We have a working configuration for this using PowerChute Network shutdown for Hyper-V.
But if location 1 looses power the SAN will be effected as well thus all VMs (also running on Hypervisor 2) need to be shutdown, to prevent loss of data when the SAN will be shutdown.
As PCNS only accepts on UPS we are not quite sure how to configure this.
We would need the following config:
If UPS 2 looses power: Migrate VMs running on Hypervisor 2 to Hypervisor 1 and shutdown Hypervisor 2 afterwards
If UPS 1 looses power: Shutdown all machines on (Hypervisor 1 AND Hypervisor 2) and shutdown Hypervisor 1 afterwards
IF UPS 1 and 2 loose power: Shutdown all machines on (Hypervisor 1 AND Hypervisor 2) and shutdown Hypervisor 1 AND Hypervisor 2 afterwards
How can this outcome be achieved ?
Regards

Hi,
You should look at Advanced UPS configuration in the User's Guide http://www.apc.com/salestools/PMAR-9E5LP4/PMAR-9E5LP4_R3_EN.pdf?sdirect=true If configured properly when site 1 switches to battery both sites will be powered down. If site 2 switches to battery but site 1 one does not only site 2 will be powered down. If both switch to battery both will power down.
