Over the years, we've noticed that the runtime remaining stat varies significantly from the actual runtime we can expect from SmartUPS batteries as they age. Our answer has been to run a calibration every 6 months.
I wanted to confirm this is still a recommended practice and if not, what's the best way to address this issue when you have servers that need to be running 7x24 (so an occasional SmartUPS reboot isn't practical)?
Thanks in adavance!
Bill

Hello Bill,
This UPS series si very reliable and your question is related more to the battery. If you're using APC original battery, the runtime should never be an issue. Running the "runtime calibration" function every 6 months is a little bit excessive...in my opinion. I would use it, starting the 3rd year of that battery date code, and only once a year. And anyway, depending of the battery life design, you should change them when due.
Cheers,
Mihail
