SURTD3000RMXLT3U Discharged Battery, Runtime remaining 11 Sec's, Battery Capacity 100 %
Hello,
Our Smart-UPS RT 3000 is having issues since we initiated a "Runtime Calibration". The UPS was fine beforehand. It now states a runtime of 11 seconds with 100% battery capacity. The battery capicity lights are all lit but flashing. We unplugged the UPS and it held a 30% load for roughly 23 minutes so we don't beleive it to be a battery issue. How do we resolve this issue?
Model = Smart-UPS RT 3000 XL
Model number = SURTD30000RMXLT3U
Firmware = 5.1
Manu= 12-11-2010
Serial = IS1050009155
unit has SMART SLOT AP9630 Network Mgmt card

Hello Angela,
I did exactly as you suggested. The AP9630 card remains unseated, The UPS charging lights are steady and runtime capacity is incrementing upwards. I will re-seat the module once the charging has completed. Life is good, thank you. So is this a communications issue between the UPS and the Management Module?

Nope. It is a UPS calibration issue and we are removing the AP9630 just to make sure there is no configuration on it that could disrupt the calibration process (i.e. turn it off for some reason).

I think you might need to give it a go at another manual calibration. I would suggest, if possible, to go ahead and set it up so you can remove the AP9630 temporarily or unseat it. Then, you definitely need to make sure there is a minimum 30% load (which you mentioned) but it cannot fluctuate more than -/+ 5%. They key is in simulating the power failure by pulling the plug or tripping the upstream breaker to put the UPS on battery and you must let it run down to 0 and let it turn it off. Then, let it charge up afterwards again and check the runtime value. It is ok to re-install the AP9630 at this time as well and restore your normal load, understanding while it is charging if there is an outage, you won't have your full runtime available.
