Hello there. I have the aforementioned UPS that served me faithfully for 10 years. Last week we had a power failure and when the power was restored the UPS refused to turn on. What it does is that it tries to power on, throws a warning beep that sound more like a death throe rather than a warning beep and powers down again. And the cycle begins anew. I left like this for two hours in case the batteries were completely depleted but nothing changed. Could it be that the batteries are completely gone and with a replacement kit all will be well or is this something more serious and i am in need of a new UPS?
Thanks in advance

Hi Alkis,
The unit will not turn on if there are not good batteries. I would check the DC voltage by measuring them at the anderson connector. Do you know how old the batteries are? If they are fully charged they should have a voltage of around 108VDC or so. If they are below 84 volts VDC the batteries will be bad.
With all that said, with the age and the behavior you described I think there is a strong possibility that the issue is with the unit. Even if it is the batteries causing the problem if the unit is pushing 10 years old you most likely will not get the full life out of your next batteries. We typically say that our units last 7-10 years so I would advice to replace the unit all things considered.
