Hello All,
I have a client who has several AP9617 management cards and wish to use them in new (year old) SUA3000s. I checked APC's site and it mentions the AP9617 is discontinued. My recollection is the card did work in the older SUA3000s, but am not sure if it will work in this model (noted in subject).
Please let me know if it will work, or if APC has made changes to the internal of the UPS that will negate the operation of the card.
TIA.

You are welcome.
For your kind of UPS, we strongly suggest that you perform the braindead procedure. To do the procedure you need to turn the unit off, unplug it from the wall and then press and hold the off button until you hear a click or the LED's flash on the UPS. After doing this you are now free to install/ remove the card.

Leo,
Yes you are correct, the APC NMC AP9617 and AP9619 are already discontinued has been replaced with newer cards. But these kind of cards would still work with the UPS that you have mentioned from your post.
We now have a new set of network management cards that can be used on old UPS models like yours and with the latest Smart-UPS that we have the SMX and SMT units.

AP9617 will still work in both of the UPSs that you mentioned without problem. When you install them, it may be a good idea to find and download the latest firmware version available on the website for Smart UPS, part number SFSUMX372.

if you need to schedule it instead, you can just hot swap the card in there if its going to cause you downtime. the procedure JonPro mentioned is preferred but most likely nothing will happen - the manufacture date of the UPS and the card does not matter - the two will work fine together.
