SUA220INET 10 years battery replacement or new UPS

Hi,

I have a SmartUPS 2200 which is now 10 years old. It is time again for battery replacement. New batteries would cost 1/3 of the price of a new Smartups 2200. How long will an UPS in average work before other components are failing ? Would you buy new batteries for this UPS or spend more and buy a new UPS ?

Generally, we recommend a customer replace the batteries after 3 - 5 years and once that set of batteries fail, we recommend a trade ups. Our UPS' can generally last 8 -10 years, sometimes more, sometimes less. Though it would be more expensive to trade up to a new UPS, it is recommended as the replacements have more enhancements and come with a 3 year warranty(2 years for the battery and the older the UPS gets, the more likely their internal components will fail.

Thanks. How will this trade ups program work ? I have seen that there is a form to initiate a trade ups. I can't switch off the old Ups before having the new one. Do I have to send the old one back before receiving the new one or do I receive the new one and send the old one back later ?
