SUA2200RMI2U and SUA3000RMI2U

Hi, we have one of each of the above 2200 and 3000 size 2U APC UPS. The batteries on both are about ready to be replaced. Can we use a 3000 battery pack unit in the SUA2200 UPS unit, so we have two 3000 sized units to increase run time? Can we use (do they exist?) a larger than 3000 sized battery pack in ether or both of the 2U UPS'?
Thanks.

well, these units are not "XL" so they don't support any external battery packs. you'd need a Smart UPS XL or something beginning with SMX to be able to add extra battery packs to it.

i researched both of these SKUs as far as batteries go and the 2200 takes RBC43 and so does the the 3000. thus, they both take the same battery and the runtime differs on the load most likely.

there is going to be no other battery pack that we have tested or can suggest to achieve a higher runtime here plus then you need to worry about charging time, size, etc. if you need to get a unit with more runtime either now or for the future, see about getting a Smart UPS XL or unit that has a prefix with SMX.

hope that helps.

Hi,

Thanks, I probably should have looked into this / understood it a bit more. I was assuming the 2200 / 3000 numbers were relating somehow to the size of the battery, it seems that it is referring to how many watts the unit can handle. They do both have 8xHR5.8-12 cells, I will look into replacement.
If we end up using non APC batterys (money is tight) that are slightly higher or lower capacity, will the unit charge them correctly?

Thanks.

well, generally, yes, we'd recommend APC batteries. we cant be liable of what happens when you don't. but, you can do whatever you want. the charger is designed to charge whatever it comes with so at a minimum, just choose the same voltage of course, which i am sure you know to do. as far as the amp hour capacity, i think it will just affect the charging time and available runtime either way (more or less). it should not be an issue. also, just make sure wherever you get them from, that they have not been sitting around. you may want to look for date codes on the batteries as the APC ones usually have that.
